Wong Chun Siang 2B/06

Prologue:

I came across both of these pictures in the ginger garden of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The bright yellowish plant should be tumeric flower(that's what they said on the signboard) and the duller plant is the ginger. In the following poems, i will be comparing both plants in relation their properties and looks.

The Two Plants

The Flower
Out it came from the trunk
A burst of life from nowhere
Into the fast developing world today
Nature doesn’t seem to matter anymore

Bestowed with bright and beautiful colors
Meant to draw all attention away
Behold this wonder of Mother Nature
Like a gift up from heaven

On the piece of land it grew
Fed by those artificially created food
It bloomed and prospered with ease
With admiration following everywhere it goes

The Ginger
Looks can be deceiving
Dull as it maybe
Harvested endlessly without failing
But shunned by honeybees

Born in the ground
Unlike the pretty flower
Weighing around a pound
Holds not much power

Not praised for looks
But commended for taste
How plain it be
Looks can be deceiving
