Prologue

The theme of my poem is the richness of nature. It is a representation of different colours that can be found in nature, and how they make nature beautiful and vivid, like a painting. The colours of nature may also remind us of other things found in nature itself. I drew inspiration from Gerard Manley Hopkins' Pied Beauty, in which he expresses the richness of nature through the different colours and textures that can be found in it.

Mother Nature’s Show
The garden is the place to go
to see Mother Nature's dazzling show.
Splatters of beautiful coloured inks and paints
cover the natural canvas.

The pale violet red
against the azure,
almost an illusion
of a purplish hue.

The canary yellow
blending into the snowy white,
like the sun
surrounded by fluffy clouds.

The vivid cerise
surrounded by the creamy white
amidst the greens,
hidden away from the sun’s glare.

The sunglow emerging
from within the mauve petals,
against the leafy green
yellowish in the sun’s glow.

The butterflies fluttering
about the vibrant décor,
dancing in joy
at the wondrous colours of the backdrop.

The flowers of the garden present a colourful show,
as they are caressed by the warm sun's glow.
Butterflies dance in mid-air,
like they are at a social affair.

The garden is a the place to go
to see Mother Nature’s brilliant show.
